Feels Like a Million

Some days I think about my career as a musician and all i've experienced. A lot of it is starting to feel like it was just a dream or it was something that wasn't real. The bands I were a part of didn't turn out to be legendary although some strange things do tend to happen. About a year ago I was at a Maverick game at the AAC and someone stopped me as I was walking down the aisle and asked me if I was the lead singer of Fidelity. I love to think back on the concerts we played with bands like The Elms, Everyday Sunday, Downhere and Switchfoot. I guess I just miss playing gigs and hangin out with bands at the shows. Dustin was probably my favorite person to write and record music with. He always challenged me to be a better songwriter and guitar player and a lot of times I still need that. Since we've split up i've only written and recorded one 3 track EP with my Uncle Mitch in Houston and that was back in April of '05. I miss that connection...the creative connection that doesn't come along often enough. Rex is the best drummer I have ever played with. Playin in a band with someone like him was almost intimidating due to his insane ability to drum like a pro. Through every fill he would never miss a single beat. It's like he had a metronome installed in his brain. My favorite memory would have to be the 2 months we spent recording at Pandhandle House Studios (Norah Jones, The Vanished formerly Seven Channels and Flickerstick) in Denton. It's crazy because we were so young and really inexperienced at recording and songwriting. I'd give anything to have that chance again now with the experience and knowledge I have now. It feels like a million years since we've been together. I remember eatin Wendy's at Brana's casa in Midlothian having no clue we were about to play our last show. If you're out there and you read this, don't take for granted the opportunities and blessings you have in front of you.

The Next Jack Nicklaus

Some New Inspiration

There is going to be a huge change in CD selection this week while driving in my car. The change will include fairly new releases of the following bands:

Radiant
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
The Killers
My Chemical Romance
John Mayer
Jack's Mannequin

I'm really into the new stuff '30 Seconds to Mars' is putting out there. Hopefully i'll be able to pick up their new CD soon.

Would This Be So Weird?

I wish I could know exactly what a relationship between a guy and a girl was supposed to look like. Every relationship i've been in so far has failed and sometimes failed miserably. So i've been wondering what are some different approaches that could be taken. Should a couple be married before they even get married? Should the guy have to check with his g/f to see if it's ok if he hangs out when they're not even engaged? Should they have to see each other everyday? What if a guy and girl didn't kiss until the second after he asked her to marry him? Can you know if she's the ONE without kissing her? These are some kind of difficult questions and go completely against how society functions...but is that such a bad thing?

A High of 62 Degrees Means...

Golf! Brad and I went golfing today. Lately it has been SO cold and snowy and rainy. Impossible conditions for golf. So today was a perfect day for a round at Creekview in Crandall, TX. The first 9 holes didn't go so well as Brad shot a 52 and myself a 48. But the back 9 proved to be reason that we both should be considered for club pros at area golf courses in Dallas. Brad shot a 40 and myself a 38! I've never shot in the 30s for 9 holes so that was exciting!
